Substrate

I have started up an old project (swapping out a 30 gallon planted tank with a 57 gallon rimless tank) that did not get off the ground and I haven't been keeping up with substrate info so I have a couple of questions.
  1. does ammonia leach still happen with new ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia? I heard there is a new version that doesn't do this.
  2. Anyone with experience using UP Aqua Soil?
  3. Third option is demineralized soil with sand cap. Though recent posts on here make me think this will also have an ammonia spike for a few weeks - I'd like to know what I'm getting so I can be prepared.

Complicating details:
I am going to be rotating out an established tank with fish and replacing it with a larger one. I don't have the luxury (space) of keeping them quarantined until the new tank is fully cycled - at the most I can keep them in a smaller tank for 24 hours before transfer to the new kit.
I expect more maintenance and testing daily to keep conditions correct but work and school time constraints make doing daily water changes over two weeks unrealistic.

Eventually, I'd like to grow a carpet of hair-grass or glosso - finer granule size is important. The current tank has fantastic growth with ecco complete but I think the granule size is a bit too large for fine plants

Answered.

Spoke to Orlando at GLA got some good advice - He rocks!

Based on my needs I'm going with Up Aqua Soil - I'll post my results on here.
