Question Has anyone tried this substrate?

About a year ago I bought a 5 gallon bucket of AquariumPlants.com Amazon Plant substrate, I tried back then and didn't like the results I was getting because all of my Sagittaria broad leaf plants were melting.

But I mean I never really gave the substrate a chance because I took out all the plants because of the melting, but as most of us know some plants will melt in new substrate, but eventually grow back.

I read different reviews of it, but I'd like to get reviews from people on here who use the substrate, and what you think of it.

I plan to use it in my Fluval Edge Rimless 6 gallon setup, but I'll be putting dry ferts under the substrate (iron chelate, muriate of potash, and dolomite Ca & Mg)

It's just like any other calcined clay substrate - turface, eco complete, flourite, etc. It's inert, and has a high CEC, meaning it will absorb nutrients and release them for your plants.

Well I plan to get Macro Micro Nutrient Mix
Macro Micro Nutrient Mix 1 lb contains 1 part each of Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate, Plantex CSM+B.

And since I'm already adding in the dry ferts listed above, plus I'll be mixing in my dry ferts with macro/micro nutrient mix, what would be your take on using these with substrate since it's inert, it should adsorb most of the nutrients right?

What else should I be "mixing" into the solution, maybe some Flourish Nitrogen?

It will absorb nutrients, I did some searching and it seems it's fairly common for people to preload these substrates. I have dirt tanks, and don't dose at all, so I leave you now to those who know their fertilizers. Sorry I can't help.
