How often should I change EcoComplete out?

I got enough substrate for a bigger tank than what I have now. I have a spare full bag of EcoComplete substrate and was wondering how long I should wait before changing what is in the tank. Or if, since I have limited space in my one bedroom apartment, I should be super special awesome and donate the 20lb bag to someone in Texas? Because if I won't have to change it out for a long, long time there's no sense having a GIANT BAG sitting around taking up space.

Should not need to change it out unless you want to.
I add root tabs to mine just like I do in tank's with plain gravel, sand.

Awesome, thanks. I'll have to figure out what to do with this bag then. I got them on sale for 16 dollars and shipping was cheap. Maybe I should go donate it...

Save it, maybe you'll start another tank in the future, you never know.

I also add root tabs to my soil. JBL (German company I think) sells these mud balls full of nutrients, my plants do very well. If you have access to worm castings, you can probably freeze them in ice cube trays then push them into the substrate.

As much as I would love another tank, there's just no room and my time is limited due to school and work. I wouldn't have anywhere to put it.
