Another Black Diamond Question

When starting a new tank with BD sand how long before I have to start using root tabs? and how do you rinse this stuff. As you can tell this is all new to me but I'm trying to get it right,

You should add the root tabs right away because BD doesnt have any nutrients that come pre-packaged with it.

right away and i wouldnt rinse it just put it in fill it up and get filter going used black diamond on many tanks and thats what i do
