need subs for 180gal tank

oh black diamond... thats new subs i learned and very cheap

i can drive 50miles and buy some 50lb bags

i was saving money for eco subs

how many pound of subs do i have to buy for 180gal tank?

A cubic foot is 80-90 pounds. A cubic foot would fill a 6'x2' tank footprint 1" deep. So 4 bags for 2" plus a little or 6 for 3".

Have you researched this product? Some find it to be very abrasive and dangerous for fish and some find it to work very nicely. Perhaps you could check the stuff for yourself before buying it?

I've heard accounts of corys dying on it because it was too abrasive.

Not sure what grit I got but it's actually quite soft (when wet, of course). I'm not sure if it varies too much between grits but I was quite surprised. I thought bad water quality led to more problems with corys than anything?
