Advice needed on potting soil

I'm looking to redo my substrate AGAIN but I want to do it right this time , I am going with black diamond as the top layer but I want to use a potting soil as the under substrate , can I just use any kind of potting soil ? I just want to be able to walk into my local garden store and buy it (uk) . Does it have to be organic ? Which one is the best ? Which ones should I avoid ??

Try good old top soil. Just the cheapest stuff the Big Box has. I've got a few tanks of it. Some with and some without cap. Just add the soil and fill. Use a net to get all the flotsam off the top. I waited a week or two before I added fish. Not sure if I needed to wait so long but I just didn't have time to get it stocked.

If you want to use more expensive stuff get the Miracle Grow Organic. Some of the others could (do) have petro chemical ferts in it.
