Diamond Black Leonardite

For those who use this under their substrate: Do you wash/rinse it first..?
will it dissolve under the capping material eventually?

I used it once and it just laid there under a cap of sand. It is a form of not quite ready coal.

I used it in a 10 gallon tank, with zeolite sand as a cap. Unfortunately, I found out later that I had very low light, so I had poor results that would be appropriate for that little light. I'm thinking about trying it again in a 65 gallon tank, unless I decide to use worm castings instead.
