Adding iron to MTS

I am either going to add a bit of iron oxide powder or some taconite. the taconite would be cheaper (free) as i live next to an ore dock, and was wondering if anybody had any opinions or advice

yes i know the standard thing is to add red clay, well im not going to add clay because the soil i dug up already had quite a bit of yellow clay in it already
so i am going to either add taconite, iron oxide powder
or perhaps i dont need to add iron at all

If you already have clay in the soil, why do you need to add more Fe?
I've done MTS with red clay as well as a natural yellow clay. No problems with Fe. If you want just add a little red clay for its flocculating properties...You'll be fine.
