Jiffy pot for quick and dirty peat layer?

I'm about to set up a low tech Finnex 4g with Eco Complete as the main substrate. I was wondering about enriching it a bit, though. Then a little thought entered my head. What about slicing a square jiffy pot down the seams, and laying it flat on the bottom of the tank?

I think the only thing I'd be worried about is if the peat is treated with anything.

if you can find a phone number perhaps you could call the company to find out if its treated with somthing ,worst thing that can happen is that they tell you its a 'trade secret' and you're still left in the dark

but as to weather this is a good idea or not i have no idea
