How long does ADA leach Ammonia

I have a tank thats been set up for around two weeks close to three and I haven't done but one large water change and I am getting nitrate readings of 40 ppm. I know thats super high but I will change more water when I get fish. My ammonia is also crazy last time I checked it was at 8[top of the chart] I know ada leeches and want to know how long it does... Could any one tell me.

Well, the effect of it really depends on your tank size. I mean, the same amount of NH3 in 10 gallons is completely differently concentrated than that of 55 gallons... So, even though it may have an estimated time which it stops leaching NH3 (which I honestly don't know when this happens, sorry) it really does depend on your tank volume. Good luck!

yepp did a large change and got it down to .5 ppm so might get fish today but do another large water change before I add them.

I dont know if this helps but I set up a 33long with AS1, I did a dry start for a month or two, flooded it a week or so ago, used a seeded filter and currently have o ammo.

Just do partial WC every couple days for about 2 weeks.

I usually do 100% (or as close as I can) get for the first 4 days and then do 50% WC for another week (while running a seeded canister filter) on the tank. I then start adding lots of stem plants after the 4 days of 100% W/C.

Hopefully that helps,

Stuart
