Cloudy water?

So I know that ada leaches ammonia in to the water for the first month or something but my water is cloudy and it is the fourth day. Does ammonia make water cloudy?

The cloudy water is likely due to a bacterial bloom.

Christople, this is your 2nd thread about cloudy water from the Soil. People have been telling you and Finnz to let it ride out. Nothing is going to change on advice, you need to let the filter do its thing. You can add purigen but again you need to wait for it to happen on its own. Sometimes with that soil it doesn't ever get crystal clear. Do a few water changes each week. Small ones, maybe 10% or so and be very gentle when you refill.

My 120 Gallon Shrimp Tank Rebuild finally started!!

If you are having a bacterial bloom, then it likely means that your aquarium is cycling and/or experiencing a mini-cycle.

Well it is five days old. But I thought the reason it needs to cycle is to grow bacteria.

Since your aquarium is still new, a cycle is inevitable.

Cycling your aquarium will allow beneficial bacteria to accumulate. During this time, cloudy water is normal, as it indicates that the bacteria are flourishing.

It is slime.

It's not a laboratory! Bit of slime, poop, algae etc etc is fine.

Don't get paranoid over an aquarium. It is a biological enviroment in a cube. You will get slime cloudy water and just wait till the algae problems start in the next few weeks.

All of this is normal. You will even get a slime on the surface of the water. Just let the aquarium do it's thing and that is to accumulate bacteria. Sooner or most likely later it will settle in and the water will clear up, the algae issues will go away and your biological filtration that all aquariums need will be created.

When I start up a new aquarium I don't do any water changes even if the water is not clear. Just add water to top off the aquarium. When you change water in a new setup you are tossing out new bacteria which you want to grow in the tank not toss it down the drain. Just top off with water and no water changes for about a month.

okay, and most of the bacteria resides in the filter.

The reason I was stressing on the slime is it was covering the airstone and making the Co2 stop whitch in turn would have made it explode.
