Leslie's Pool Filter Sand?

I'm trying to narrow down what substrate to change to for a planted tank. I have narrowed it down to Turface Pro League or pool filter sand.

We have a Leslie's Pool Supplies here, and my question is, is the nice light tan/larger grain the "Leslie's" brand?

Also, is it necessary to stir this sand to prevent anaerobic pockets?

The trouble is, Leslie's sand in one place could easily be different than that in another. It is highly unlikely that they transport sand across the country as it is available everywhere... Ask to see some. They will think you are crazy, but it is usually a nice light brown color.

If you have access to turface, it is a much nicer substrate, but is very light.

Swimming pool filter sand is bagged relatively locally. It will usually be a mineral common to the state. In some areas of New England it's blue to black. In other areas its granite. In Michigan it tends to be quartzite.
You can order red flint pool filter "sand" from some aggregate suppliers.
