Soilmaster Select size differences?

Years ago I purchased two 50 lb. bags of SMS Charcoal.

Used part of the first bag to set up a tank. At some point, my cat decided it was kitty litter and used it as such, so I threw out the rest of the first bag.

I opened the second bag yesterday because I wanted to add a few more cups of substrate, and found it was much smaller. About 3x less in diameter. A bit too small for my tastes, and a lot of it went right through the same wire mesh strainer that I used to rinse the first batch.

Has anyone else noticed this?

LOL my cat did the same thing. I left a bucket of SMS in my bedroom and she decided to use it as a new litter box.
