How much

I am planning a 75 gallon tank. I want to use black diamond blasting sand for the substrate. How many bags should I plan on buying?

Probably 2 bags, 1 isn't enough but I doubt you'll need more than 2.

If you do need more than 2, then buy another bag and add it, that's another pro for using an inert sand substrate.

Thanks. That's much less than I was expecting.

Any you don't use now you can keep stored somewhere for later. I try to keep from sucking up too much when I clean up the tank, but I don't get crazy about it. Some of it always gets dumped out into the plants/garden with the water. When it gets low enough, I'll just add more new sand to replenish the tank.

I used 2 for my 40G breeder and I ended up with about half of the bag left.

Id recommend 2 to 3 bags...thats 50lbs per bag haha...stuff is dirt cheap anyways 🙂. If possible or available get the corse grade, better for plants than the finer stuff
