Cichlid sand question

I'm picking up a 125 gallon that comes with cichlid sand. I know nothing about cichlid sand. I want to fully plant my 125. Is there a way to use cichlid sand or should I just replace it all?

Currently, I use a mix of black sand and gravel in my 75 gallon. I keep low tech plants. No CO2. I've read that cichlid sand has a higher ph...if this is true, is there a way to neutralize it so that it's safe for my plants?

Thanks all! I've tried researching this, but all I keep getting are results about cichlids, ugh.

Most sands marketing to African cichlids (like the black and white popular Caribsea sand) raise KH and pH more than you'd likely want in a planted tank. To check to see if it will harden your water, take a sample of tap and a separate sample of tap with some sand in it. Test pH after they have sat open for 24 hours. If the sample with sand has a higher pH, you'll probably want to use a different substrate.

That's what I was worried about. I won't have it until Saturday, I'll definitely test it.
