Mg organic potting soil ???

I'm putting a layer of it under pool filter sand in my new 90 gal. My question is how long will it be good for? How long for the nutrients?

That depends on how much your plants are consuming them. If you have high light and you are not dosing the water column you will go through them much faster than if you were to have low light with ferts. Kind of depends on the rest of your setup.

I hear its a good start. As far as how long it lasts...I think the consensus is a few months at the very least. Its a good start but you should still fertilize the water column. As far as I can tell, there's no method that keeps you going for a while w/o hands-on maintenance.

it will last a very long time, but really depends on your light. i have a small tank hitting the two year mark that has never seen fertilizer besides fish food/waste. though some people say it runs out after year, i find otherwise.
