Need help.. enough thickness?

Just set up this 250liter a few days ago and already the roots are pooping out. Do i need more substrate here? And if so how do I pull it off without disturbing the plants?

Doesn't look like it's too thin. You have some kind of aquasoil in there and they are notoriously light. You should use some tweezers to stick back under any roots easy to stick under. Otherwise if the plants pull out completely stick them back down. The only other thing to do is wait. Eventually the roots will grow into the soil.
