does anyone use black diamond and what size of grit are you using

It is VERY abrasive. I gave up when it cut my hands trying to rinse it. It varies significantly though, from location to location. I'd guess mine is similar to yours, but who knows.

That sharpness will be bad for cories and other bottom feeders and sand sifters.

I love mine. I picked up the medium size grit about a year ago. Plants grow very well in it, it's cheap, its black, its sexy. What else does a person need in life.

Just kidding. Theres more to life than sexy substrate. I don't have corys but my oto's dont seem to mind chilling out on it all the time. Id imagine theres also an increased risk of getting a grain of it snagged up in a cleaning tool that gets too close to the substrate and scratching up the glass, but I have no scratches. Just be careful.

i don't remember the brand, but i think its black diamonds that I brought at tractor supply store.

i grow plants fine, i have cories as well. It feels like sand to me.
