Eco-Complete Topped with ColorQuartz?

I've got a supplier of some colorquartz ( it's weird, i was told it was discontinued but she's selling 50 pound bags for 20 bucks or so )
My question is that would just a mixture of eco-complete and colorquartz work? would i need anything else? i've heard of "root tabs" are these necessary?

If they've got black T grade I'd grab every bag you can. I really like the stuff. I bet you could sell it by the big flat rate box on here, too.

Yes you can mix them if you want. The ColorQuartz is totally inert, so no nutrient value, but it's a good grain size for roots and looks nice. I'd probably mix it all together from the getgo, with at least 50% Eco in the mix.

Root tab ferts can only help, but aren't mandatory, especially at first. Eventually your plants will exhaust the nutrients they can pull from the Eco and root tabs will come in handy, though. Using root tabs from the getgo can just help things along.
