Bringing aquasoil on plane?

Does anyone know if it's legal to bring aquasoil in a checked bag on a plane? For domestic flight within USA, I'm moving to another state soon and would like to set up a tank at the new place. There are no stores nearby the new place that sells aquasoil and I have a bunch left over from previous tanks that I have set up.

Might get some odd looks and questions but can't see why it wouldn't be OK.

How's the rest of your stuff getting there? Can't put it in with that?

Well I still have about 2 months before the move actually happens. I was planning to set up some tanks and one-day ship my livestock over because there is currently someone living at the new place that can watch over them. I figured it would save money since I’ll be visiting the new place before the move rather than having to ship over 20lbs of soil!

Why not just ship it to your new place before you visit and it will be waiting for you.

I was hoping to save money on shipping because I have free checked bags if they allowed it in checked bags.

I'm going to guess a few bags of an unknown, damp, pelletized substance aren't going to make it through TSA undeclared. You might want to contact the airport ahead of time and see if there's anything you can do to inform them ahead of time that it will be in your bags.

Thanks so much for your help! I just called TSA customer service center regarding the soil + plants and they said that it is allowed in checked bags. I guess I should have just called to ask!
