Anaerobic condition?

Hey guys! I switched my tank to a dotted one 5 days ago. My ammonia is .25 nitrites 0 and nitrates 10. I used black sand as my cap in a silly mistake. I have been poking and prodding the substrate yo get all the bubbles out. Some still come up but not many. My tank smells like it always did without the dirt, maybe slightly earthier. It does not smell like sulfate. Today I noticed that there is a good amount of CO2 in my tank. I used to inject CO2 so I have a drop checker which is how I knew. It was pretty much perfect lol. However, my CO2 wasn’t on so this was odd. I read that this means I have an anaerobic condition. Is this true? What can I do?
