aquasoil or poting mix capped with sand?

narrowed it down to those two and i cant decide which would be better. I have high ph 7.8 and i know the aquasoil would have to be replaced at some point but i already have some liquid ferts and root tabs from nicolg. I like the loks of aquasoil but at 52 bucks vs 20 is diffference but i dont mind spending the extra for it

from your information, I'm guessing this is a planted tank. honestly, if you already have root tabs i would just go with the potting mix, however, if you want something like corydoras i would either put sand on top of the potting mix or use aquasoil. by the way you only need liquid fertilizers for plants like Anubis nana.

Points to consider.

Both substrates will be depleted at some point and need to be replaced.

Both can and will become 'messy' at some point.

If you plan to rearrange or move plants around often then AS is a better choice since its less messy of the two.

On the flip side, why not just go completely inert and use something like blasting sand with O+. There are many of us using it to grow demanding plants with great success, plus its the cheapest option out there.......

All tanks below are using Blasting Sand. There are a bunch of other as well, do a quick search on here and you'll see....

Mine.

Are you planning to use Co2?

Been travelling, so trying to get caught up.

And, yeah that's true. I honestly thought you might be sick of seeing every little FTS latest update.

Got a new plan, more to come this weekend.

I'd suggest running some sort of Co2 (not Excel) if you are planning to grow plants like Pantanal. It's going to struggle without it.

Sick of FTS! Is it actually an update if you don't include a FTS?

You are being kind.

Pantanal will shrivel up and die without loads of everything. CO2 being #1.
