20L Project

Good morning everybody.

I am putting together my 20L tank for DHG landscape. I am using Fluval Stratum as base substrate 17.4 pounds but also i bough CaribSea Eco-Complete for top.

Here is the question, CaribSea Eco-Complete 20 pounds is still in the bag and i realized is very sharp and not soft at all. Is this good for plants specially DHG? is not too strong or bad for the roots even when the Fluval Stratum will be 1 inch bellow or will be better do everything with the Fluval Stratum?

My only problem with the fluval is that is super light and is a challenge keep the plants planted since the snails easily remove the plants from the soil.

Any recommendations?

After read carefully, i decide use the Eco-complete as base and the stratum on top.

Here is the progress. I will add the CO2 once the aquatek regulator arrive in 2 days. I have another planted tank and i am adding same substrate but already cycled to help this tank cycling, also the filter is cycled already.

For the moment i am adding Flourish Excel to help with the CO2. I am not sure if add Zone Leaf now because i don't want an algae explosion.

Here is my project:
20L tank
2 Kessil A160WE Tuna Sun Lights - 10 hours a day with a timer full blast
CO2 injection with Aquatek Mini regulator - Same time as the lights
Substrate: 20 pounds CaribSea Eco-Complete for base and 17.4 pound of Fluval Stratum on top.
Filtration: Aquaclear 50 with a intake sponge filter
Heater: [email protected] degrees

DHG for the moment as carpet

After everything is fully cycled,
10 nerite snails, 20 Neocaridina Blue Dream shrimps.
