So I ordered 4 bags of eco-complete

When I recieved them today they were practically frozen solid (been ridiculously cold here lately, as it has been in many places)

I figured no biggie, but thought better safe than sorry and I should ask you all first.

No big deal, right?

I guess I am wondering if it could have lost any of its beneficial stuff in there.

No one is really sure that stuff helps. I think in the marketing material says the bacteria is heterotrophic. I think the bacteria involved with the nitrogen cycle are autotrophic. Prolly just an excuse for putting five pounds of water in a twenty pound bag.

call the place where you bought it from and tell them it got to you frozen and they might refund some money or send you more of it. Might be worth a try?

So it's not a miracle substrate and will make my plants flourish with no need for extra ferts?

I would rinse the substrate just in case the liquid did have lots of bacteria in it, now all dead from freezing. I agree that it won't harm the substrate.

No problem. I just did a tank and 7 bags froze in the garage. They had thawed by the time I started the work. All was well, no problems at all.
