Shrimp tank - uncertain concerning substrate

I have a 30g tank that's ready to become a massive neocaridina tank - but I don't know what substrate to use! I have coarse black diamond blasting abrasive, organic potting soil (no perlite), and can order Fluval Stratum or Pool Filter Sand.

I was wanting to use a black substrate to help with their colors. The tank will be planted quite a bit, too. I don't mind having to add ferts. I will have water lettuce, dwarf saggitarus, water wisteria, java fern, and java moss.

My tap water tests at 6.8/0/0/0 with gH 42, kH 2.

Any help is greatly appreciated ^_^

I just sent you a PM, and you'll notice one of them is using black diamond blasting sand. I think it looks great with shrimp, and I've had no issues growing plants - even Erio that tend to have delicate roots.

I would stick with what you have. Just know that it will take quite some time for the sand to mature as far as getting bacteria colonized and mulm settling into it for plants. Expect best results in 3-4 months

Here's some shots of BDSD with CRS in my old 20 long.
