Creek Sand

I have a creek that runs through my property and has lots of sand in it as well as along the banks. I'm thinking about converting my tank over to MTS and was wondering if the sand from the creek could be used as the cap? It is very fine sand almost a powder.
Or would I be better capping the MTS with pool filter sand?

Thanks,
Matt

i assume that sand would be fine, but keep in mind you may be bringing in insect larva and anything else that lives in that sand... I used some gravel I had in my pond in one of my tanks and had mosquitoes hatching out of it for over a month. Not bad, especially if you have fish to eat the bugs, but just be aware
