If your dosing the full array of ferts via the water column why even deal with the root tabs. You simply don't need them. They can foul up the water. Even Seachem will tell you if your dosing liquid Seachem flourish you don't need their root tabs

I was under the impression that having play sand I would need to use tabs. I am dosing thrive 2 pumps twice a week. If no root tabs are needed I will not put more in when thsee are gone. They seem to not be doing anything for me anyways.

No, all aquatic plants will uptake from the water column. Some so-called heavy root feeders like Crypt, swords supposely prefer ferts in the substrate, but this has been most debunked.

I and many here have grown very healthy stems, etc by just dosing the water column.
