I recently upgraded to a 75 gallon setup that I scored a great deal on. Previously, my largest tank is a 27 long that has pool filter sand and is medium to high tech, no issues. This new 75 gallon came with ADA, already cycled though Im still allowing the tank to do whatever it needs while I plant it before adding fish. I have CO2 and am planning to upgrade the lighting to 4 t5ho bulls (not sure which I'd like yet). So, the tank will be relatively medium to high tech.
After filling this tank last night, trying my best to minimally disturb the substrate, it is super cloudy even with the filters running. I love the look of sand, and being in canada I would go with some cousin of BDBS. My initial thought was to leave perhaps an inch of the ADA and cap it with 2" sand but I am aware they will most likely mix. My question is, should I keep the ADA if i plan to heavily plant and probably rearrange regularly? Or should I scrap the ADA and just use BDBS?
Id love any thoughts you have towards it
