Seachem Black Sand - Alternative

I currently am using Seachem's Black Sand in one of my tanks and it's been going well - no fading of colors, looks actually black, but because it is 'sand' it is quite fine and so any movement in the substrate will cause it to become cloudy just a bit which I don't mind since it settles.

I'm setting up a Fluval Spec V - I was initially thinking of going for a different look and was thinking of other substrates, but I think black always looks nice, so maybe I'll stick with that. Color is primary of concern here.

Well, I have half a bag of Black Sand left, so maybe I should just continue with that route, but was thinking maybe something not as fine like the sand. Any recommendations for a substrate that is pitch/dark black but of larger granularity?

Thanks

Thanks.....for the sake of time I went out to LFS and picked up a bag of Seachem Black Sand.

I just recalled how dirty it is - I don't think it ever goes clear despite rinsing it many many times....even though the bag says that it's prewashed.
