Adding Aquarium Soil to Established Tank

My tank has been running for a while with a flat substrate of a dirt layer topped by Flourite, but now I'd like to add some raised areas in the back without tearing things down. The plan is to build up an area with rocks and top it up with aquarium soil. I won't be removing the fish

What's a good soil to use that ...

1. won't cause an ammonia spike and kill my fish

2. won't make a cloudy mess and kill my fish

Any suggestions? Thanks!

May have to go inert on the raised areas. Can't think of anything that won't do either of those, except thoroughly rinsed inert substrates like blasting sand, pool sand, eco comp. etc... and poured through a tube to the bottom (gravel siphon tube if its long enough) and still may be a little cloudy for a short time, but nothing fatal for your fish

Could always stick root tabs in the raised areas to compensate for the lack of nutrients if you like. Or start without and add those later if you feel its needed
