Substrate acidity

Is an inert substrates acidity the same as the water since it doesnít react or is it different in some way?

I have a plant coming that requires soft acidic water and substrate but I use bdbs so Iím just wondering.

Inert substrate should be fine for the plant so long as you have a lower pH in your water... Most plants (I don't do anything exotic so they may be different) are fine in about any water that doesn't go to the far ends of the pH scale.
