This blasting agent aquarium safe?

I have linked the SDS sheet for a coal slag blasting agent called Black Magic. It is really similar to the BDBS you lucky guys have access to in the states, it's just not as well hobbyist tested as the black diamond brand. Was going to cap a dirted tank with it, what do you think?

Here is the breakdown

Here's what I could find about Black Diamond (pdf warning): http://www.blackdiamondabrasives.com...ds-rev-5-1.pdf

Looks to be about the same.

I think I'm going to try and check it out in store and see what the size is and how dirty it looks, I can grab a bad and test in a bucket and watch for nasties, I'll only be out $10. I'll report back for any fellow Canadians looking for a cheap black sand like BDBS

Black Diamond Iron Silicate Sandblasting Sand

Located in Mississauga if you ever come east.

Exact same stuff sold in TSC stores in the states, just different package.

I'm running black magic in most of my tanks. I was never able to find BDBS, so black magic it was. The MSDS were almost identical. A couple years in on my oldest tank that I switched from gravel, and I've had no issues with it at all.

Great thanks for that. Where did you get yours from? I stoped in at my local TSC and they didn't have any in stock, I'll have to order online and pickup in store I think. Also which size did you go with?

United Western Supply is the only thing in my area, so that's where I went. I got the medium grit which I think was 20/40, but I honestly can't remember anymore

Some of the TSC east of Toronto carry it in store. I have inquired in the past and it sounds like they can get it in stock you just need to convince them to bring a few bags in for you.
