Contest help? Need substrate.

Ive only used flourite before, but I need something I can aquascape better so I'm deciding between ADA Amazonia, Eco complete and this Red Sea substrate. Also has anyone used the API laterite, how well does it work, would it be worth it.

Incidentally, why was it that none of all the pious ever discovered psycho-analysis? Why did it have to wait for a completely godless Jew?

Just use regular gravel

I'd suggest something not amazonia, don't want to appear like a copy cat

If your going to spend the cash dont buy eco complete go with the soil based substrate. I spent a buch of money on eco complete when I first started and I wish i never did. now that I have used ADA and Azoo Plant Grower Bed I wont use anything else for growing plants. The Azoo is on sale right now at GLA

okay so anyone else against the eco complete? I was about to ask if this sounded good > Base layer of ADA power sand, topped with API laterite, then eco complete and then ADA Orinoco sand? Your probably thinking just use ADA all together but idk what would be cheaper ADA or eco, what are your thoughts on the AZOO i heard it sucked

I just purchased so of the azoo substrate I really like it the grain size is perfect and its supposed to not break down. I used aquasoil for 2 years it grows plants verry nicely but it does break down some over time if you vaccume it every few months you will be fine. If your going to use powersand and laterite you can cap that with almost anything and have a nutrient rich substrate.

Im curious as to what look your trying to achive?

That would be a huge mess after a few uprootings.

Are you just going to set the tank up, plant then take pics? Or is this going to be a tank you run with for awhile? Also, how long do you have before entry submission?

ECO is a waste of space and money. Get the ada or get a sand you like and use good substrate nutrient. Mixing that many substrates is just going to piss you off.

I would use ADA AS or one of the Azoo plant grower substrates.

Oh and the cap of sand is just for looks. but i might just do plain plant substrate instead of capping it. My choice is now between ADA and azoo, got in some Eco-complete in the store to see and its all clay like flourite, love flourite but hate the look and feel.

]I read that Eco-complete will can affect the pH a bit until the coating washes off. It should stabilize after a few weeks and regular water changes. Eco-complete can be reused only twice.

I like scotts top soil topping with river sand.

What did you decide on?
