I don't know, but all vendor reviews are banned from the forum. Just so you know. If you want a cheap substrate, try pool filter sand.

It's ok if you ask about aquariumplants.com substrate.

Just do a search on the subject. There are plenty of posts on the topic.

I love it, I thought it wasn't that cheap but the 5lb bucket I got was way too much and I could have got less, but it grows plants like crazy. I only have a 41g but its sloped almost 5 in to 2.5 in back to front and I have a good amount left over. I put in root tabs when I first set it up (about three months ago) but havent since (have been forgetting to do it) and all of my plants have taking off. Even some that I got within the last month. I would recommend rinsing like it says or your tank will be cloudy for a couple of days, but goes away otherwise i really like the stuff.

I have their substrate in my 10gal. tank and love it. I bought 2gal. of it and it was more than enough for it. I think it grows plants really good even without root tabs.

+10 I just redid my 150g tank with Turface and it cost me less than $10 for enough substrate.

I have this stuff in my 75G tank, it works, no complaints... I don't know how much you payed. But when I purchased 2x5G buckets 2 years ago, I payed 83$. It appears that they are a bit more expensive now

Just don't come back here to share your experience with the substrate or ap.com because every thread relating to vendor experiences gets locked.

The substrate works very well, and I have no comlaints whatsoever about it. As others have noted, it is pretty much marked up turface. If you don't have the motivation to hunt for it, or can't get it locally then it is a good option. It is a convenience you pay for, and there are plenty of other examples of cheap stuff being marked up as "for aquariums". There are also other far more expensive substrates than it.

I did not add any root tabs to my tank, and I add some liquid fertilizer a couple times a week. I have had to hack back my plants several times already using CO2 and 4x54 t5s.
