Post Playsand needs a rinsing?

How do I go on washing 50 lbs of play sand and how long does it take? Wash it with water in a 5 lb. bucket? What's the EASIEST way to wash play sand effectively, mess-free, and in a short period of time? I have over five 50 lbs for a 250 gallon arowana tank. Any advice?

Honestly what i did with my tank, granted i have flourite. but i took a bowl that's relatively tall and put the hose in the gravel and just moved my hands around.. It's going to take quite a bit of water... but it'll get it clean after a few rinses.

Hmm I see, well I'm going with pool filter sand. Thanks for the advice though, I might use it.

I just washed out some Leslie Pool Filter sand for Discus tank I'm starting back up.

small bag fit perfect in 5 gal bucket
Stuck garden hose in bottom and pushed it around a lot.
Was clean in a couple of mins, not bad at all.

Then drilled an itty bitty hole in bottom side so it could drain all the way

I used the cheaper equivalent of play sand (cheap construction sand, no additives) and all I did was put it in a bucket in my bathtub and let the water flow. I am in an apartment so I do not have a hose but I would recommend you do this outside. Basically fill the bucket halfway with sand, fill it all the way with water, swish your hands around in the sand to make the water nice and dark, wait a few moments for the sand to settle and then pour off the water. Do this a few times and you can also just let the hose run in the sand, the heavier stuff will stick around.

Have you ever seen a French Ninja? NO because they are sneaky.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I will try that method of letting the hose run in the bucket.
