pool filter sand for MTS cap

Hey guys, I am looking for a light colored substrate to cap my MTS. Will pool filter sand work or will it eventually settle to the bottom? Sorry if this is redundant but I researched the forum and still had questions.

In a non-planted tank where you will never have to disturb the substrate it may be OK for a while, but with such a fine material such as PFS, it will get messy very quickly. Planting and moving plants around will quickly end up shifting sand below the MTS and the two will end up mixing.

In a non planted tank, i would assume you would need to disrupt the substrate more from cleaning it.

Not so much actually because you just skim your syphon near the surface of the sand to suck up any detrius. I have PFS alone in my 20 gallon with java moss and anubias and I like the ease of maintaining it. Another downside to it though is you have to poke around in it on occasion to release trapped gasses.
