Ok to mix gravel with generic eco-complete?

Heyas, was wondering if mixing a generic eco-complete with regular gravel will work fine in a planted tank? I have a 5 gallon bucket full of black gravel just sitting around. I also have some black tahitian moon sand too. Which if either of these would be better suited or is there something else relatively cheap to mix with the eco? Thanks in advance.
