Question with eggcrate method

Hey guys

I have a question for how to do the eggcrate method of land elevation.

If you use eggcrate to stack up the land, the eggcrate is porous and allows water to flow in and out of it. But this is bad if you put fish in because they will swim in the eggcrate, and it's ugly. I'm trying to figure out how to "trim-out" the eggcrate so that water can still flow in and out, but fish can't.

I was thinking to attach wiremesh onto it, and then putting cork board on top of that. But leave the top or bottom (whichever is less visible) without the cork-bark on it, so that water can still flow through the mesh. It just really needs to not let fish in, but let water through.

This would make it really easy to hide the filter, heater, etc.

Does anyone have any advice? Also, what would you use to attach the mesh onto the eggcrate?

to hide the egg crate, you can pore garvel in front of it, to prevent the fish from getting under the egg crate, you can put some rocks in the way and fill in the holes with gravel.

I like the gravel method. You should definately use a wire mesh over the eggcrate, then you can either lay the gravel, or even use silicon to attach some of it. I also like using plants that will spread and root around the mesh, such as java moss or micro swords.
