20g long newbie

i have a 20g long i can use but the top was all chewed up by the previous owners rat, yes rat...by top i mean the black plastic top edging
it has nothing but the actual tank and a screen

would this be a good thing to make as a terrarium or vivarium...
and what is the real diff between the 2
i would like a waterfall/stream that emptys into a lakeish thing...
it has no lighting but i can get some and what kind of lighting

or is this just too small for a vivarium/terrarium...

out of the aquarium for a while... college

The rat chewed off the entire top plastic rim?! Or was it just part/all of the inner lip? Wether or not it has any of the plastic left, you could still use it for a viv. Check out the below threads about waterfalls, im sure there will be some info you could use. Pretty soon, I will be making a thread that describes, in detail, the waterfall Im making in my 80 gal viv. The best lighting for vivariums (if you want lots of plants) are power compacts. I think the difference between vivariums and terrariums is a vivarium houses plants and animals, and terrariums are just for plants. I could be wrong. Finally, no, 20 gallons is not too small for a vivarium. It just limits how many/what kind of animals you could comfortably house in it.

Well... not to steal the thread but... I think terrariums are totally enclosed "things" that reuse water! Well I guess they cant have animals then but still! Well also I have had a hamster that did the same thing and im using it for my planted tank! So.. I know it will work as long as none of the sealent is missing!

20 g is what my three fire bellied toads live in and they seem quite happy. they had two waterfall/stream things but after a disasterous move, they are down to one. which also functions as the filter.

what do you want to keep in there?

good luck!

30 gallon tall, pressurized CO2...killer lights
50 gallon long, killer filtration, low tech otherwise
