Sounds like a nice little project.

Venus flytrap plants aren't the best choice for this setup. They need a winter cold period and lose their leaves. I would suggest trying a Sundew instead. There are several tropical verities that stay small. Look for information at www.growsundews.com Be warned, carnivorous plants need acidic water with little nutrients. If you keep them with animals, the waste the animals produce may add too many nutrients to the water.

There are no species of turtle that can be kept in that size aquarium. You will need at least a 55 gallon aquarium for the smallest species of turtle. Also, many turtle species will eat plants and all turtle species may destroy them. You might have better luck with a species of amphibian, aquatic insect or crustacean.

Good Luck!

No turtles. They need a much, much, much larger tank than that.

If you want animals in the bulb, you could try a couple of assassin snails or maybe a ghost shrimp, or a couple of micro crabs. You will need to do water changes.

My current project, a 65 gallon aquarium stocked with vernal pool fauna.

I've a fly trap for about four years now. December it gets taken out of its pot, dirt cleaned off and put in a plastic container with fungiside and put in the fridge for three months. Then out and back in a pot. I've never had a plant lose leaves.

Be Happy.
