First I would like to say that I have never done anything with live plants other then macro algea in my 55gal reef tank. Currently I have a 85 Hex community tank, 10gallon planted tank (wifes), 18gal setup for Crested Geckos, a free range setup for my chameleon, as well as previously mentioned 55gal reef tank. This will be a HUGE learning experience and by no means want to do anything the easy way out or shortcut anything. I have a 55gal, 75gal, and 33gal half hex available to me. As of right now I know I can use the 33gal half hex, but am trying to convince the wife to let me use one of the others for this project.
So here goes my plan...
I want to have about a 50/50 water to land setup, waterfall on one side that pulls the water to feed it from the opposite side of the tank, land/water seperation needs to be uneven and natural looking (not just a piece of plexiglass cutting the tank in half), a cave under a portion of the land to represent a cave, and an island in the middle of the water. Yes this is asking for a lot and will not be easy. But thats what I am looking for.
If anyone has advice against any of the details please let me know. I am more then open to suggestions and would greatly appreciate any advice you might have. Once i get started on this i will post pics of every stage in detail.
