Can you have salamander and tree frogs in the same tank

I'm working on a tank that will be 28" wide 18" deep and 24" tall.

All other veriables aside assuming on a 12" round 4-5" deep pool could I put newts or salamanders in the pool and have a group of tree frogs.
Most things I've read would make me believe this is not going to work but I was wondering if anone has a setup like this.

It would really depend on which species. Some newts stay in water which would mean it wouldn't come in contact but some other newt species like to stay out a little more. I would go ahead and say no especially if your thinking about like fire belly newts because they have toxin as do firebelly toads that can be very harmful to other species.

I agree with the post above, it really matter's on the species. Firebelly toads would be pushing it, but with tree frogs and a newt I would say go ahead. Many species of tree frog that are available at pet stores are nocturnal anyway. If you're really worried about the toxin's released by the firebelly toads and newts, I work at my lfs and my owner keeps both in a paludarium with anoles, a rough green snake. Plus we keep them in the same tank on display at the store.
