Lighting a "streamside" 12 gallon long ?

I've gotten an idea to try and simulate the edge of a pond or stream using a 12 gallon long aquarium.... one end with shallow water, with plants spilling out the top, and the other end with deeper water and fully submerged plants.

Something like this:

So, it's not exactly a riparium with the planter cups and all, but a similar idea.

Now, how to light the thing? I'm assuming a hanging light would be best... I am partial to LEDs in aquariums, but don't know about the needs of the emergent plants

I've used the finnex fugeray in the past in ordinary aquariums, but suspect it may be too weak here, esp hanging.

What would be good to light something like this?

if you haven't yet, go watch all the green machine videos on youtube. and I agree with above a ray 2 would do well or multiple spiral cfls would do for a budget

Tanks in progress: 14 'Iwagumi' (Cherries, bamboos, otos), 5.5 Desk 'Riparium' (Betta, Cherries)

Unfortunately, I can't watch youtube...

How many CFLs and what wattage?

Thanks for the ray2 recommendation... too bad they don't come with a hanger.

can't watch youtube... huh. they may be available through the green machines website...
as faar as cfls I would think 3 or 4 13watts would do it. it depends on what level of lighting you're trying to accomplish though.

Ok, I'm looking at the Ray 2 as you suggested. It would be on a hanger, so I could modify the height.

What do you all thing about the new Fugeray planted + for this as an alterative?

I'm not going to do CO2... I don't want to deal with tons of algae...

I've just never tried to grow these emergent plants...
