Leopard Frog Enclosure Tips?

I have recently acquired a little leopard frog (most likely Northern) and would really like to plant some of the enclosure. My problem is, I have no experience with emmersed growth and/or riparium type setups.

My basic idea is to section off about half of the tank (10gallon) to fill with water and have filtered for swimming and sloping up to land. My main issue is deciding with substrate is ok for the frog (seeing as he'll probably want to burrow to some degree) and for plants to grow.

If anyone has experience with these guys, do you think live plants are even a good idea? I just need help brainstorming the basics. I can't really find much info on planted tanks for amphibians like these guys as I suspect most people just end up putting them in their ponds and letting them go.
