Paludarium build

So after seeing several paludariums on different forums, I got the itch to try one myself. I've got a 20 gallon the I picked up at goodwill for 6 bucks, leak checked it, and made my background. Only it sucks. It doesn't fit and quite frankly, it's ugly. So, after finding a couple of videos on how to make a background I'm a little more confident my second go round but I'm still a little confused. I've seen several people silicone the entire thing to the wall of the aquarium, but where on earth do you put the heater? I'm also *attempting* to do a waterfall feature, so how do I hide this behind the background too? I would post pictures of my first attempt, but seriously...it's baaaad.

Covered paludarium or uncovered? Will the tank have a top?

Yes, it will have a top. My land portion is I guess the "floating" kind? Not literally floating but where the land portion sits right on top of the water line.

Hm? Similar to this?
I hadn't really planted it, so I know it's bare, leave it alone!

I think the background is pretty cool. Once the plants grow a little. Maybe get some moss on it?

I had vines creeping all over it. Is that similar to how your land will be? Where under it is like a cave?

This is the closest I can find online to what I'm thinking of doing https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/ri...d-journal.html.
The only difference is that my land portion isn't going to be connected to the ground, I want as much water as possible so I'm attaching the land portion to the background with silicone and adding support beams that look like roots under it.

Mine floated, I used PVC pipes with sand siliconed on them to hide them to hold up the land. I put my heater and filter back in the back under the land portion, although you probably will not need a heater, the enclosure will keep them temp around 75, most likely. So your water will be a constant 75 degrees, dropping a few at night ect. Really simulates an environment. Whatre the plans for the land? A ton of plants? Mine was built for poison dart frogs. I'll assume you've never been here as you would have foun one here to model yours after, but www.dendroboard.com is full of vivariums, paludariums, some ripariums ect. It is a poison dart frog website though

Honestly I'm not completely sure, I've looked through google for hours and hours and feel like I barely know any more than before I started looking. A ton of plants was the plan, possibly a whites tree frog, and some nanofish in the bottom. I'll definitely look through that board and see if I can find anything to copy.
