want to start a riparium

I want to start a five gallon riparium for thai micro crabs, thoughts? opinions? I want the tank to be almost all the way full and have plants growing out the top.

Hi Betta, I can't comment on the micro crabs as I have not kept them before but I would say that 5g is the smallest I would go on a riparium. I have an 8g and it fits about 4 planters along the back (if I didn't have the waterfall). I think my 8g is about 16 inches wide. The plants tend to outgrow it quickly and look a bit large for it so I keep them trimmed. But having said all that, I would say go for it! You'll be so very happy that you did.

Wondering if these crabs could end up climbing the plants and wandering off if there isn't a top?

I think Thai micro crabs should be fine like that, I never had problems with them climbing when I kept them. I'd imagine they'd like the exposed roots too.
