Riparium lighting

So I wanted a new project and thought I'd start a small tank, its just a 12x12x18 clearseal tank I had lying around (10 gallon I think). It originally started out as a planted nano tank but has now turned into a homemade riparium lol! Everything I have on the tank has been free/homemade/already owned, all I bought for it was a few plants and a bag of gravel.

My main question is the lighting, at the moment I'm using a 15W t8 bulb I had lying around but I'm starting to doubt if this will work, without the riparium element of the tank it would probably be doable but now it needs to be fixed higher up I'm doubting if enough light will pass into the tank now. Whats a cheap but doable option for lighting this? I'll get some pictures up soon of the tank.

Also, the filter on the tank is a fluval 2 internal and i'm wondering if this will be too powerful for shrimp? I once had cherry shrimp and even the slightest pull would suck them up! are there any decent shrimp that would work with this tank?

Thanks

Buy a desk lamp.

Something like....

Put in a large CFL and have it around 12 inches from the tank.

Fraternity of dirt no. 60.

Got a tank? Doing it filterless? Add it here!

I'm not sure what the intake looks like on that filter, but if you can cover it with a sponge that would make it shrimp-safe. The Fluval makes a 2 1/2" inch sponge which you can use to cover the intake on a medium to small sized HOB filter.
