emersed marimo balls?

has anybody ever heard of doing that or if it would work? It seems that most aquatic plants grow better emersed, and since marimo balls only grow a little bit each years couldthey grow even faster emersed?

Marimo balls are actually a type of algae, so I'm not sure if it would survive/grow properly without being fully submerged.
