Plant only tank?

Hey guys. New to the site and to planted tanks. I would like to do a tank but not have any inhabitants i.e fish/frogs. Also I donít want to have to keep 6Ē or so of water in the bottom. I just want to keep plants with a substrate and rock and some wood. I would definitely have misters or a fog setup. I plan on using an LED fixture of some type. I certainly donít mind spending the money to have a nice setup. I like the idea of a lush planted tank but donít want to mess with co2, water changes, algae break outs etc... maybe in time. If I were to do something like this does it severely limit me in plant selection? I am in love with all the forest scenes I see. Anyway I can create something close to that with how I want to run my tank? Thanks

Sure you can. It will basically be a small greenhouse. In the setup you describe you can even use small terrestrial plants and mosses. If you want only aquarium plants you can search for the dry start method DSM.

Only very few aquatic plants will not be able to grow outside water (egeria, vallisneria), but most will change appearance.
