Blackwater Bio

I have a 30g tank that i turned vertical and glued glass to have half as a tank and put in a background. The water area is a blackwater pool/steam. I really like the biotope so i created on. I will post some pictures as soon as i get home. I only have planted 1 of the 5 pots that i have in it. I tried different substrates and went with sand covered in some oak leaves. I tried clay/silt from my pond outside, but it was just too eh.

I know this is an old post, but I'm surprised nobody commented on it! It's a really neat idea. Good ingenuity kharma! I take it that's some expanding foam, that you used for a background? Have you done anything with this tank in the past few months?

Any updates? I'd love to see how this is progressing!

I haven't done too much to it really the plants have grown out more and the orchids i added are blooming. I also have some gambusia in it for now. I don't think i've ever changed the water and i have babies so i odn't plan on it.
I just add water weekly.

Yes it is greatstuff with spaghum peat or however you spell it. I have another one similar to this that i do more with now as this was a first for me.
